Relationships and Success
The more successful people I meet, the I understand the importance of relationships. I find relationships to be the foundation of success. Do the most talented succeed? Not always. Take a look at the music industry. Are the most successful artists those that have the best singing voice or the best dance moves? Not necessarily.
The idea of relationship building as a platform success seems to extend to any sector. Recently, in a panel on the topic of affordable housing, the panelists described their political/funding success as a result of their relationships.
I still have this stigma about the concept of networking, because the relationships built in those situations seem so superficial. But, the power of having ties to people from all industries could allow a leader to pull from a diverse pool of resources.
I guess if both people involved in a superficial relationship understand that it’s superficial and are okay with it, then there’s nothing wrong with that…
